What’s New at Foundry?

Is it just me, or did summer go by pretty fast? With autumn approaching, we are excited to share about some of the changes that are happening here at Foundry. Change can be difficult and scary, but also inspiring and invigorating.

Entry Remodel

We are currently remodeling our entry way to make it a more connected space. We are moving the coffee bar to where the library was and implementing a new library design that will encompass more of the space to encourage both reading and learning. It will be finished soon, and we appreciate your patience as we are currently in the middle of the project.

9AM Hour Classes

Another change that we are highly anticipating is the change in format to our 9AM hour. This hour has traditionally been our ‘Sunday school’ hour, but a high attendance rate has not happened in several years. Our new model will include different classes that are six to eight weeks long and that will cover a myriad of topics and be taught and led by various people. We will be rolling this new model out beginning on September 18th. We will have three classes available this fall.

  • An 8-week class on “How to Study the Bible” will be taught by Michael Long in classroom 21 upstairs.

  • An 8-week parenting class called “No Perfect Parents” will be led by David Tranby in the Fellowship Hall.

  • And Doug Barram will continue to lead his Seniors Sharing class in room 20.

  • Along with that there will be a class for our Middle and High school kids in the pie shaped room off of the balcony, and a children’s program as well in Kidztown for the duration of the classes, so that the parents will be free to attend the class of their choosing.

We would love to see all of you commit to one of the available classes this fall, and we will be letting you know the spring schedule of classes soon.

Prayer Opportunities

Another exciting change is that we will begin having dedicated prayer times on Sunday mornings beginning on September 18th. We will have a prayer time from 8:40 to 9:00 am in the office conference room, and then we will have a prayer time from 9:45-10:05 am in the auditorium (and various places). The idea behind the second prayer time is to pray over the church and move to different areas to pray for the people and the service. We want to be a praying church and we can’t wait to see you at one or both of those times.

We will be talking more about all of this on Sunday at our outdoor service! See you there!

Trevor Waybright

I was born and raised in Ripley, WV and graduated from Ripley High School in 1992. I then attended Crown College in Powell, TN where I met my wife, Joy, and we were married in 1997. After we graduated we moved to Beckley, WV where I was a youth pastor for 14 months. In early 2000, we moved to Pasco, WA and then down to Hermiston, OR where we started Victory Baptist Church in October of that year. God taught us much about grace and mercy and gave us three wonderful children (Jordan, Justin, and Alyssa) in the 14 years we were in Hermiston. In November of 2014, I accepted the position of Lead Teaching Elder here at Foundry and we relocated to Bend that same month.
